Matt Mintz brings more than 17 years of international business development and marketing experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. His training and business focus on North America and international markets in Japan and Europe.

Following five years of basic and industry research experience, Mr. Mintz began his commercial career with a graduate degree in international management. Through roles as a business analyst, inlicensing specialist at a major Japanese pharmaceutical company, to business development and marketing roles with North American biotechnology firms, Mr. Mintz has a broad background in the industry. Mr. Mintz founded this company in 2000 to provide his skills to companies on both sides of the Pacific.

He has lived in Japan, the U.S. and Canada and now spends time in both San Diego and Vancouver working with clients from around the globe. (case study #2). Mr. Mintz has held several positions focused on international market development. Most recently he served as Director, Market Development, Asia-Pacific for QLT Inc., a world-leader in the development of photodynamic therapy.

Responsible for marketing partnerships for the anti-cancer drug Photofrin® in Japan (case study #3) and Asia and supporting a development partnership for Visudyne®, Mr. Mintz expanded QLT's expertise for working in Japan, drove product sales, and revitalized a valuable strategic partnership. Previous roles included work with Dura Pharmaceuticals, Advanced Tissue Sciences, Vyrex, and Alliance Pharmaceutical Corp. (case study #5), where he served as Manager, New Business Development.

While at Alliance, Mr. Mintz evaluated technology in-licensing candidates, introducing the FloGel surgical adhesion preventative which was later acquired by the Company. He also supported Japanese partnering discussions, and conducted the field training of distributor representatives.

Mr. Mintz’s therapeutic areas of experience include oncology, ophthalmology, respiratory disease, drug delivery technologies, photodynamic therapy, and immunotherapies for autoimmune disease.

Mr. Mintz is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a B.A. in Biochemistry & Cell Biology and a Master of Pacific International Affairs graduate degree. He continues to attend classes and seminars to stay on the cutting edge of technology and developments in key international markets.
